In order to meet the expectations and needs of all family members, Jumu Chiang spent a significant amount of time communicating and collaborating with them before finalizing the plans. Construction only began when everyone was satisfied with the proposed design. By making the best use of the base's characteristics, the designer created a bright, outstanding, and exquisite living space that caters to the family's desires.
The realization of Bright House involved the use of white stone material, titanium-plated metal, brushed metallic colors, light grey veneer, and stone-look laminate hard plastic sheets. These materials were carefully selected to enhance the overall aesthetic and functionality of the design.
The interior area of Bright House spans approximately 142 square meters, encompassing a living room, dining room, open kitchen, reading and lounge area, three bedrooms, and three bathrooms. Each area is thoughtfully designed to serve its specific function while maintaining the original structure of the building.
One of the notable features of Bright House is the metal folding screen used to define the entrance area. This folding screen not only adds visual interest but also signifies the open design of the living room and kitchen dining area, allowing family members to interact with each other. Additionally, a metal frame separates the reading and lounging area behind the TV wall, creating a unique and half-open corner within the house.
Throughout the design process, the family's input and preferences were highly valued. The challenge of accommodating everyone's desires and ensuring a harmonious living environment required extensive time and negotiation. However, through multiple meetings and the presentation of various design options, a result that satisfied all family members was achieved.
Bright House embodies the concept of humanity, taking into account the family's lifestyle and their longing for leisure. The use of open space and the incorporation of visual arts-inspired metal frames as partitions create a bright, spacious, and streamlined living space. This design not only fulfills the family's desire for a slow-living lifestyle but also promotes a sense of connection and togetherness.
Bright House was completed in November 2018 in Taichung City, Taiwan. The design received the Iron A' Design Award in 2020, recognizing its well-designed, practical, and innovative nature. This prestigious award is given to creations that meet professional and industrial requirements, integrating industry best practices and competent technical characteristics.
